What personal information this campaign holds, why, for how long, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
Fairness First is a campaign to have fairness named in rule 1.1 of the Civil Procedure Rules for England and Wales. It is run by Stuart Thompson. The information described here is held by Viseum International Limited, the company he founded, which provides the site and is the data controller for it until the dedicated campaign fund is set up. What we collect, and why
- Supporter list. Your email address, and your first name if you give it, so we can tell you what the rule committee does with the request. We hold this on the basis of your consent.
- Your account of what happened. What you type into the story form, so we can count how the civil courts are used and show the patterns to the rule committee. We hold this on the basis of your consent.
- Messages you send us. Your name, email and message, so we can reply. We hold this on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you.
- The chat assistant. The chat is provided by Chatling, at chatling.ai. If you use it, what you type is sent to Chatling so that an answer can be produced, and the chat keeps an identifier in your browser so the conversation continues as you move between pages. Please do not type your name, your address, or any case or account number into the chat. The assistant is instructed not to ask for those and not to record them.
- Technical information. Our host keeps basic security logs. The site uses the cookies needed to run and speed up the page, the cookie that records your own cookie choice, and, if you open the chat, the identifier the chat assistant keeps in your browser. The site carries no advertising cookies.
Who we share it with
We never sell, rent or share your details, and we never pass them to any law firm, claims company or funder of this campaign. Viseum International Limited, named above, holds the information because it provides the site, not because it will help to fund the campaign, and it may not use it for any purpose of its own. A small number of providers process data on our behalf and only on our instructions: our website host, our email provider, and Chatling, which provides the chat assistant. Each is bound to keep it secure and to use it only as we instruct.
How long we keep it
We keep supporter details until you unsubscribe, and then we delete them. We keep an account you send for the count for as long as the campaign’s research continues, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. We keep messages you send only while they are relevant.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will act within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
We will update this notice whenever the campaign changes what it collects. This campaign is not connected to any political party and does not support or oppose any party or candidate. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
